What is Rolfing®?
Video being used with permission by Briah Anson.
Over our lifetime, the aging process, injuries and surgeries, postural and movement patterns can all take their toll on the body. These things, mixed in with gravity, can cause the body to progressively fall out of balance and alignment, which may be felt as pain, limited function, or having less energy.
Through a series of sessions using a systematic and a therapeutic hands-on approach, Rolfing® seeks to optimize body alignment by addressing adhesions or "sticky spots" and restrictions throughout the fascial system of the body. Fascia, also known as connective tissue, permeates much of the body, from muscle groups to individual muscle fibers to organs, ligaments, and nerves. If the layers of fascia are not gliding over one another, the body can become restricted in many ways. Along with providing movement education, Rolfers differentiate the layers of fascia allowing for lost or limited movement to be regained.
Rolfing® is a beautiful process and an investment in your body that can help you

“When the Body Gets working appropriately, the force of Gravity can flow through, then spontaneously, the body heals itself.”
-- Ida Rolf
“Some individuals may perceive their losing fight with gravity as a sharp pain in their back, others as the unflattering contour of their body, others as constant fatigue, yet others as an unrelentingly threatening environment. Those over forty may call it old age. And yet all these signals may be pointing to a single problem so prominent in their own structure, as well as others, that it has been ignored: they are off balance, they are at war with gravity.”
-- Ida Rolf

Testimonials:
"Rolfing was a game changer for me. I had extreme pain in my back and I was able to get in and signed up for the 10-series. Not only did she relieve me of pain on the first visit, but she helped me feel relief in areas I didn’t know were affected after my back surgery. She knows what she’s doing and can pinpoint areas needing to be worked on before I even said anything. I can’t wait to go back again for routine maintenance. I HIGHLY recommend her services. Truly a game changer for me."
- A. Kreidler
"I have recently completed the 10-Series Rolfing treatment with Amy. The journey through the 10-Series has been a life changer for me. Amy is incredibly knowledgeable and a great communicator. I love my daily walks and foot pain is what brought me to Amy. After a few sessions, I no longer experience the foot pain and am walking 3-5 miles daily! I am more aware of my breathing, posture and have increased range of motion and flexibility. Amy has shown me that I do not have to live with chronic pain and discomfort. I would highly recommend Amy!
-S. Dodds
“…I am mid-stream through the Ten Series with Amy. She assesses with real discernment, and that brings trust: she observes with a keen eye, asks and carefully listens, and communicates about what she’s seeing and doing as she works. The effects are both subtle and powerful—I love the shifts and even transformations in my body! When I think of Amy’s hands, they remind me of her as both a Rolfing practitioner and a person: she is warm and welcoming, while also keenly focused, and above all, she is amazingly strong! I will continue to recommend her treatment to friends.”
- S. Hautzinger
"I went to Amy for a Ten series, and throughout the series I noticed several chronic issues, such as Sciatica and shin splints, begin to disappear. Overall, my body felt like it was back where it should be. She is very professional, and passionate about her work. I have yet to experience any of the recurring pain!"

Meet Amy:
Hi there! I am a certified Rolfer ® trained at the Rolf Institute® in Boulder, Colorado, and a Scarwork™ Certified Therapist. For years, I craved a way to help people when I saw them struggling with physical pain or limitations. Upon learning about Rolfing®, I knew that I had stumbled upon something of value. I did not truly grasp what Rolfing® entailed when I embarked on this path. What an amazing journey it has been. The self-discovery and body awareness that develops through this process is something that should be experienced by everyone. I was able to break free from years of chronic low back pain and get back to the activities that I love. You can have this, too!
My background is in Health Promotion, fitness, and working with at-risk youth in the Anchorage School District. My passions include getting out into the great outdoors, being involved in running & triathlon events, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I am also a functional fitness coach at Run Wild Fitness and teach strength-training classes at The Alaska Club.
I look forward to seeing you in the studio!
